FILLY Puts "Kate S.O.S." On The Guest List

Written By: Big C

The guest list is open, the flash is on, and nobody is planning an early exit. FILLY brings that invitation to Kate S.O.S., featuring The Stylist. References to Kate Moss and Vogue give its club fantasy recognizable faces, while the chant-ready hook offers listeners a way into the scene. The joke lands because the song gives its fashion references an imagined company, attitude, and occasion. Once the room knows the words, the audience becomes part of the performance. FILLY traces the song’s journey from Los Angeles to Vienna:
'Kate S.O.S' started in LA at the American Cement Building, a brutalist concrete space that was basically the perfect setting for a slightly unhinged club song. I started it with Alli Logout (1/2 of DeBasement) and UHD, then continued working on it with atlgrandma and Jesse St. John. I finally brought it home to Vienna, where my friend inner tongue and I finished it. The song is all about 2000s fashion, club chaos, and the fantasy of partying with Kate Moss for a night. I also got my friends’ project, The Stylist, involved, because honestly, what could be more iconic? It’s all very tongue-in-cheek :P think fashion, a little french, and absolutely no plans to go home. Now put us on the guestlist!

Through Interscope Records, slowplay and Bamboo Artists, their hyperpop gloss and European dance pulses suit a song that treats early-2000s fashion as a night out rather than a museum display. FILLY’s experience writing toplines for other artists also gives this release useful context, with a communal hook at the center of a project she can claim as her own. Where Chemical Love examined attraction and dependency, this single lets playful excess lead the conversation. Following Music So Loud I Can’t Hear A Thing, its pop-electronic approach keeps the invitation immediate without requiring listeners to know the character’s whole backstory.
