From The Serene Mountains Of Oja Comes Barista's “Goodbye Heaven”

Written By: Big C

The hardest mountain to climb is the one within. Istanbul-based musician Han ERYILMAZ, known as Barista, returns with Goodbye Heaven, an album recorded amidst the serene mountains of Ojai. This project reaffirms Barista's commitment to authenticity, steering clear of mainstream trends. The album addresses global issues like injustice, inequality, oppression, violence, and political corruption, as well as personal struggles such as "the soul’s famine," conceived throughout 2022 and 2023. Produced by Simon Phillips, "Goodbye Heaven" was recorded over three weeks at Carbonite Sound in Ojai and Simon’s home studio, followed by three months of post-production. The synergy between Barista and Phillips is evident, with rich, insightful melodies and penetrating lyrics that linger.

From 35 initial tracks, Barista selected 11 for "Goodbye Heaven," creating a profound and immersive experience for listeners. Barista collaborates with esteemed musicians on this album, including legendary drummer Simon Phillips, multi-instrumentalist Jesse Siebenberg of Supertramp, singer-songwriter Mariami, bassist Bob Glaub, keyboardists David Delhomme and Jeff Babko, vocalists Rudiger and Kyle Tkatch, and engineer Jason Mariani. Together, they craft a soul-stirring and distinct sound. Barista's work radiates authenticity, offering an escape from the noise of pop culture and inviting listeners to fully engage with each note and lyric. Immerse yourself in the profound connection to Barista's inner world on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, and YouTube.
