With their radiant new single Good Times, NYC pop/rock outfit Scotia Rose step boldly into the spotlight. Led by frontman Jeff Weiss, the group captures the restless heartbeat of a band finally ready to savor the present. Roaring guitars, clever lyricism, and a spark of existential honesty radiate as the band gears up to release their debut EP Good Times on December 5. Weiss reflects on past stages, Irving Plaza, Gramercy Theatre, Music Hall of Williamsburg and wonders whether he truly soaked in the highs while they were happening. Wiss Says:

Before the pandemic, I was playing at Irving Plaza, Gramercy Theater, Music Hall of Williamsburg and I was thinking a lot about if that will ever happen again. I started thinking about those moments and if I was present enough to really appreciate them when they were happening and wondered if it's even possible to fully appreciate something in the moment while knowing that the moment will pass.

He add:

I wanted to make a video that showcased us as a live band first and foremost and I've been fascinated with the public domain lately, especially when I found out that I had some of those cartoons on VHS growing up. It made sense to me to want to have some stuff in there from a generation that’s about to be lost. Happy imagery that’s about to disappear from the collective consciousness forever...if it hasn’t already. Let the good times roll, now watch them roll away.

That emotional tug becomes the song’s engine, propelled by the synergy of a lineup that clicked into full form once drum legend Richard Stuverud joined. The single pairs an infectious hook with the raw anxieties of a musician wrestling with purpose, presence, and the fleeting nature of big moments. Now gearing up for their EP release show at NYC’s Mercury Lounge on December 6, Scotia Rose spotlight their identity as a live band first with a whimsical yet nostalgic music video. Mixing footage from Bowery Ballroom, Sony Hall, Brooklyn Bowl, and Cutting Room with vintage public-domain animation, the visual nods to eras slipping from memory. Watch the video to "Good Times", and catch Scotia Rose live on Instagram and YouTube.
