There is a point where distortion stops sounding aggressive and starts sounding therapeutic. Halfway Up A Jagged Hill hit that threshold on Liar, a bruising single that weaponizes blast beats, jagged guitar work, and relentless momentum to explore the quiet lies people tell themselves just to survive another day. Every shift in tempo feels purposeful, mirroring the mental tug-of-war between endurance and collapse. The band's writing thrives because it exposes pain in plain sight. That honesty gives the record far more weight than its volume alone ever could. Even at its loudest moments, the song keeps its emotional target in focus within controlled chaos. Devin Gilbert summed up the song's origin as:

'Liar' is based on the time I found a friend crying on my stoop and our discussion on trauma and pain. The verses are about the little lies we tell ourselves through the day to keep us going while the choruses are about confronting ‘the monster.’ Musically, it’s one of the more upbeat songs, with a mix of driving sections, unison, mini blast beats, and drum fills that carry the melody.

That emotional backbone points directly toward HUAJH, the duo's debut album arriving September 10 through Vinegar Hill Sound Records. The New York outfit has spent the year sharpening these songs onstage and steadily building a reputation for live performance. If these first releases are any indication, the album "HUAJH" is shaping into one of the more emotionally uncompromising rock debuts of the year. Listen as "Liar" expands the palette with sharper dynamics and greater urgency. Connect with Halfway Up A Jagged Hill on INSTAGRAM and BANDCAMP.
