King Falcon cut straight to intent with Holding Out (Acoustic), trading their usual punch for precision and control. The new stripped version exposes the core of the song, clean guitar work, steady pacing, and vocals without distortion. Built out of their New York alt-rock foundation, the track still holds tension, just delivered through restraint. Frontman Michael Rubin leans into a more open vocal approach, with their the songwriting is underneath the band’s louder identity. The Coney Island-set video reinforces that clarity, keeping things bright, grounded, and direct. There’s a deliberate contrast here with their earlier high-energy releases, and it works in their favor. As Rubin puts it when reflecting on the track’s direction:
Everything on the first record was very rock and roll, in your face and live sounding, which was a huge part of what we loved about making it. 'Holding Out' is the first song that felt truly different from the beginning. It has a completely different sonic texture, and for me, it was also the first one that really lent itself to an acoustic arrangement. We wanted to explore that side of the band and see what happened when we stripped things back a little. It opened up a whole new sound for us, and that’s what makes this song so special.

That decision feeds directly into the structure of BLOOM, their upcoming EP set for September 18. The project pulls together six tracks, including Nothing Feels Amazing, Hourglass, and Wait, each pushing a slightly different angle of their sound while staying anchored in guitar-driven songwriting. Their recent run, over 150 shows, rising streaming numbers, and support slots alongside acts like The Struts and Sublime with Rome, backs up the momentum. Recognition from outlets like Guitar World and Atwood Magazine adds context, but the real shift is internal: tighter writing, clearer direction, and smarter pacing. Let "Holding Out (Acoustic)" sit in rotation as the entry point into that shift. Connect with King Falcon on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
