Canadian songwriter Leif Vollebekk brings his cinematic world to life on Southern Star featuring AURORA. Its an exquisite new rendition that blurs the line between music and film. Serving as the musical core of Vollebekk’s forthcoming short film, "Southern Star," the track intertwines two singular voices in a haunting, dreamlike duet. Opening with delicate piano and sunlit strings, “Southern Star” draws listeners into a world of longing and spiritual awakening. AURORA’s celestial vocals act as a mirror to Vollebekk’s introspective delivery, transforming the song into a shared meditation on destiny, presence, and the light we chase across inner landscapes. highlighting the organic magic at the heart of the collaboration, Vollebekk recalls:
AURORA and I had been fans of each other’s music for years… when I mentioned I couldn’t find a lead actor for a film I was working on, she simply said, ‘I’ll do it. Come to Norway.

Directed by Kaveh Nabatian, the visual accompaniment offers a glimpse of the short film’s surreal atmosphere, merging nature, emotion, and narrative through breathtaking cinematography. That radiates emotional gravity and quiet transcendence, marks a luminous new chapter. Following this release, Vollebekk embarks on his largest headline tour to date, beginning November 3 in Chicago before crossing into Europe in early 2026.
