When the world shifts outside your window, what’s left to hold onto? Two-time GRAMMY® winner Patty Griffin shares Born In A Cage. It's the second glimpse into her forthcoming album Crown Of Roses, due July 25. With atmospheric textures and a western-tinged soul, the track is a quietly devastating reflection aimed towards a meditation on change, memory, and the slow fading of the natural world. Infused with the hum of the santur and warm fiddle tones, the song captured the quiet ache of Griffin’s mother’s final days, and the sudden silence that followed within the landscape. Griffin shared:
At the end, my mom was noticing that the songbirds weren't showing back up in the spring, and rabbits and all kinds of animals were disappearing. Even the coyotes moved into Maine because they lost their habitat. There were all these changes to the delicate balance, and it must've been really hard to see.

That fragile observation becomes the soul of “Born In A Cage,” a gentle warning set to a twilight melody. Following the release of Back At The Start, the album’s opener, "Crown Of Roses" is shaping up to be one of Griffin’s most profound and vulnerable works. Each track is beginning to feel like a conversation with time, memory, and the quiet resilience that anchors her songwriting. Pre-save "Crown Of Roses," and experience the quiet strength of Patty Griffin’s newest chapter. Connect with Patty Griffen and FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, and YOUTUBE.
