Melbourne’s rising post-punk powerhouse Radio Free Alice returns with Toyota Camry, which is the second preview from their upcoming EP Empty Words. Lashed with jangly guitars, ghostly harmonies, and a sense of nostalgia, the track captures the feeling of being haunted by a future that never arrived. The official video, directed by longtime collaborator Finn Robilliard, reflects on the mundanity of modern life and the eeriness of suburbia. Vocalist Noah Learmonth explains the inspiration came from theorist Mark Fisher and a recording session in a Connecticut house straight out of Monster House. Complete with faded Polaroids of Interpol and Bloc Party hidden in the cutlery drawer, this visual delight needed a unique premier on BBC 6 Music.

“It felt weirdly fitting for a song about lost futures, haunted by the past.” – Noah Learmonth
“Everyone is bored, but nothing is boring.” — Mark Fisher

Recorded with Peter Katis, the track builds on the success of Polyester, the band’s breakout 2024 EP that earned over 2.5M streams and critical praise from Rolling Stone, DORK, NME, BBC Radio 1/6 Music, and more. The upcoming "Empty Words" project also features production by Ewan Pearson and Ali Chant, and includes the title track, Regret, and Chinese Restaurant. Following sold-out UK dates, a debut U.S. performance at SXSW, and support slots with The Killers, Radio Free Alice are set to headline North America for the first time this fall, including a stop at Shaky Knees Festival Let us know your thoughts on the official video to “Toyota Camry” below.
