The room is loud, the years move fast, but the right person can make both disappear. Small Pond build Everything’s Quiet around that kind of stillness, turning a restless look at growing older into one of the clearest pop moments from their upcoming album Soft Burn. Guitarist Ian found the verse’s picking pattern during a practice vocalist Molly McDevitt missed while she was sick, and the band followed it until the song had a pulse of its own. Producer Alex Farrar added background vocals and extra texture at Drop Of Sun Studios without polishing away the rawness in McDevitt’s delivery. McDevitt explains:

"Everything's Quiet" is another song about self reflection, but where a lot of the record reflects on specific relationships, this one reaches for something bigger: aging, growing older, and the process of letting go of who you used to be.

That larger reflection keeps "Everything’s Quiet" from settling into a simple love song. Small details—an impulsive haircut, changing vision and the safety of blending into a crowd—give the music something concrete to hold while the chorus opens wider. The single follows Silver Coin and gives Soft Burn another angle before the album arrives October 21. Small Pond will carry the record through fall dates at Portland House of Music, The Drake, Cassette, Pie Shop and Deep Cuts.
