Steven Wilson’s eighth studio album, The Overview, has arrived via Fiction Records, marking one of his most audacious and immersive projects to date. Comprised of just two expansive tracks, Objects Outlive Us and The Overview ,the album draws from the "overview effect," a transformative shift in perspective experienced by astronauts when viewing Earth from space. While initially conceived as a solo effort, the album flourished with contributions from longtime collaborators Craig Blundell (drums), Adam Holzman (keyboards), and Randy McStine (guitars). Lyrics for "Objects Outlive Us" were penned by Andy Partridge of XTC, adding depth to the album’s narrative-driven composition.

Musically, "The Overview" bridges Wilson’s three-decade career, incorporating the storytelling of The Raven That Refused To Sing, the electronic experimentation of The Future Bites, and the spatial audio vision of The Harmony Codex. It also revisits elements of classic Porcupine Tree Records. Following a sell-out screening of Miles Skarin’s accompanying film at London’s BFI IMAX, the album has continued to captivate audiences with additional sold-out screenings worldwide.
