Electronic music fans, meet Video Burnout: the captivating collaboration between Adam Stegemann and Samples From Mars founder, Teddy Stuart. With their debut EP, Shame Spirals, the duo invites listeners into a world of brooding, lo-fi instrumentals shaped by their unique love for vintage samplers and chaotic IDM beats. Drawing inspiration from their disco-infused youth and a shared passion for archaic music gear, Stegemann and Stuart have created a five-track project that merges cinematic atmospheres with disjointed rhythms, capturing the essence of an era gone by. Stuart reflects:
Adam is an old friend of mine—a brilliant jazz pianist-turned DJ. After buying a bunch of old samplers and drum machines, he'd send me videos of some really special grooves he'd composed but didn't know how to record. So I chose my favorites, and together we recorded and produced our first EP as Video Burnout.
Crafted with a mix of melancholic pads, frantic drum programming, and disco basslines, "Shame Spirals" carves out a niche sound that defies easy categorization. It’s an auditory journey that resonates just as deeply in the intimacy of a car ride as it does on the dance floor. As Video Burnout continues to blend their eclectic influences, this debut EP marks the start of an exciting new chapter in electronic music. Listen to the full EP below and immerse yourself in their sonic landscape.
