A forge is where raw metal becomes something shaped by heat and patience. Forge marks the latest instrumental chapter from Tycho. The track moves forward on steady percussion, shimmering synth layers, and guitar textures that gradually rise to the front of the mix. The instrumental settles into a steady pulse, where hypnotic groove where every element finds its own pocket of space. Zac Brown’s guitar lines carry much of the emotional weight, unfolding as a driving companion to his recent single Boundary Rider.
Hansen explains:
'Boundary Rider' started life as a demo called ‘Forge’, a driving open-ended extension of the Epoch-era sound. I originally sent a stripped-back version to Paul Banks to see if he’d be interested in adding vocals, which later shaped the direction of that arrangement. After finishing that version, I revisited the original to see if I could draw a compelling instrumental from it. In this case it ended up feeling balanced just by pushing Zac’s guitars forward and opening more space for the instrumentation to breathe.

The release follows Tycho’s acclaimed 2024 album Infinite Health, the sixth studio record from the twice GRAMMY-nominated producer and composer Scott Hansen. Known for blending ambient electronics with warm analog textures, Hansen has built a catalog that continues to evolve through collaborations and live visual performances under the ISO50 banner. After touring extensively throughout 2025, Tycho continues his 2026 run with appearances at CRSSD Festival, Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival, and a special performance alongside Washed Out at The Caverns this April.
