World News Map "In Purgatory" Through "The Way It Goes"

Some bands escape limbo by running forward. World News instead turns around and map every room inside it. The London quartet introduces its debut album In Purgatory through The Way It Goes, the jangling retro-indie single, written and first demoed in 2020. The track gathers phrases, thoughts, and emotional fragments over guitars and bittersweet lyrics, deliberately leave unresolved. Producer Tommy Bosustow recorded the 11-track album with World News at RAK Studios in central London. The result links post-punk tension, college-radio melody, and the claustrophobia of London life. The lyrics don’t possess too much of a story, but are more phrases, thoughts and collections of words of how I was feeling at the time.
World News began as Tinman in Brighton, where brothers Alex and Rory Evans chased grassroots opening slots before a mistaken-identity problem and a chance meeting with drummer Malte Henning helped reshape the group. "The Tinman" later entered the global viral top ten and climbed into millions of streams, showing how word of mouth can move at its own speed. "In Purgatory" arrives October 16 as both a debut statement and a document of the years World News spent trying to regain momentum.
