Are there specific venues or festivals you dream of performing at in the future?
I’d love to perform at Coachella. That’s like the closest thing to Woodstock to me in my generation.
How has your musical style evolved since you started, and where do you see it going in the future?
I’ve evolved so much lyrically but really what stands out is my songwriting. I use to just care about punchlines and having so many bars. Now I’m locked in on making sure the song structure is there too. I wanna get better and better tho in as many facets as possible.
How do you engage with your fan base, and what kind of relationship do you aim to build with them?
I talk to a good portion of my fans thru social media and real life engagement. Whether it’s in person and passing off free merch or just answering as many questions as I can on social media I always tap in with my fanbase someway somehow.
Can you share a bit about your experience with music education and its impact on your career?
Everything I’ve learned about music has been self taught. From learning how to count bars or learning about music publishing and how to use the internet for marketing purposes it’s all been self taught.
What are your thoughts on the role of nostalgia and retro influences in contemporary music?
I think it’s important to tap into the past in order to set the tone for the future. I’m a nostalgic type of artist myself so I’m always tapping back in to those retro vibes.
Are there any specific causes or messages that you are passionate about and incorporate into your music?
I’m on just being yourself. I’ve pretty much always push individuality and self expression in my music and movement. I never made my path wanting to be like someone else’s. I’ve strive to be myself and encouraged others to do the same unapologetically.
What's your take on the importance of live performances versus studio recordings in building a music career?
Recording in a studio is dope and a necessary process but when you’re live it’s nothing in the world like it. It’s raw, pure, unpredictable, and so much fun. I love performing live and with each new performance I keep getting better and better. If you can’t perform live you’re not gonna make it far as an artist.
How do you adapt to changes and trends in the music industry while staying true to your artistic vision?
I just roll with the punches honestly. I stay true to myself but I adapt to the reality of it. You can’t just stay the same forever but you can’t change your inner self for who you are and what you stand for. Adaptation is a pillar of survival just as a human being tho. Adapt or starve as they say.
Lastly, what legacy or impact do you hope to leave through your music?
The legacy I’m leaving is greatness. I didn’t come in here to be normal, regular, or fly by night. I came in the game to be legendary. I came here to solidify Madison Jay as one of the greatest to do it. I came here to solidify COUNTY! as one of the biggest brands out here. Fuck average, be great!
