KIMIKO has built a career mastering several, and now she's bringing that same storytelling instinct into pop music with her debut EP, Modern Dance. Best known as an actress, director, and voice talent, the Los Angeles multi-hyphenate steps confidently into the spotlight as a singer-songwriter. This time delivering a collection inspired by the awkward realities, emotional highs, and frustrating contradictions of modern dating. The title track transforms relationship fatigue into an empowering anthem, blending sharp observations with irresistible dance-pop melodies. Paired with a stylish DEATHCATS-directed music video inspired by classic romantic comedies, "Modern Dance" showcases an artist who understands that vulnerability and humor often make the strongest creative partners. KIMIKO explains:
The song was born out of frustration, like a lot of my songs are. I was going on dates with this person, and it felt like a battle of 'who can care less more'... I had so much to say!!!

Beyond the infectious hooks, "Modern Dance" represents the culmination of a creative journey that's steadily unfolded through standout singles like Hang Out Forever?, Emotional Whiplash, and Just Like That! Working alongside longtime friend Morgan Karr (morgxn) to refine the title track's unforgettable chorus, KIMIKO continues embracing honesty, wit, and self-awareness as defining qualities of her songwriting. Inspired by fearless pop storytellers such as Lily Allen and Sabrina Carpenter, she crafts songs which celebrate independence while never shying away from life's messier moments. Keep "Modern Dance" on your playlist and connect with KIMIKO on Instagram, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
