Some nights feel enchanted, like the sky tilts just enough to change the way the heart moves. That lunar shimmer fuels the sparkling new single from genre-expanding virtuoso Cory Wong entitled Blame It On The Moon. Teaming up with Miami’s indie-funk trio Magic City Hippies, Wong unveils a breezy, disco-kissed groove where slick guitar phrasing, sun-lit textures, and radiant rhythms collide. The collaboration emerged from an unexpected meeting overseas with a chance moment which blossomed into creative synergy. Magic City Hippies flipped his early demo into a bold new direction, layering fresh ideas that Wong elevated with horns, keys, and his unmistakable rhythmic edge. Cory Wong explains:

I got home from Japan and sent over a demo of a song I was working on. The guys in the band said, ‘Yep, we know what to do with this.’ They flipped the arrangement around and added new parts, and sent back what was the majority of what you hear in the final song. We did a few rounds of remote feedback on the writing, and I polished off the arrangement with some added horns and keyboards, and it was done! It’s always more fun to work in a room together on something creative like this, but it works really well to work on remote collaboration projects when both parties are really comfortable in their artistry and also the craft of recording/ collaborating. This, to me, felt like the pinnacle of remote collaboration.

The result is, in Wong’s words, “the pinnacle of remote collaboration,” capturing spontaneity, craft, and pure musical joy. The track previews his upcoming album Lost In The Wonder, highlighting the vibrant pop palette he’s crafting for this new era. Set to arrive February 3, 2026, the album anticipation continues after standout singles like Tongue Tied and the shimmering title track featuring Benny Sings. This next chapter also brings his national Lost In The Wonder Tour, with special guests Devon Gilfillian, Stephen Day, and Marc Scibilia. Experience the glowing funk-pop fusion of “Blame It On The Moon” and step into Wong’s new creative universe. Connect with Cory Wong on FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TIKTOK, X, and YOUTUBE.
