Cory Wong unviels Tongue Tied, a hook-heavy, bright, and addictive release that taps into his pop-leaning instincts while keeping the guitar magic that defines his sound. Teaming up with Nashville favorite Stephen Day, Wong crafts a playful, feel-good anthem that mixes tight rhythms, sparkling melodies, and the sort of spontaneous joy only born from genuine collaboration. Their partnership colors the track with warmth, charm, and the candid vulnerability of someone trying, and failing, to find the right words when nerves get the best of them. A backstage hang at a Polish jazz festival turned into creative kinship. Wong recalls the spark vividly:

It all started at a Polish jazz festival. Yes, you read that right. Stephen Day and I were both performing there a couple of years ago, and after hanging out backstage, we became fast friends. I already knew some of his songs that had popped up on random playlists, and he’d heard my music through mutual friends. When I started working on new material for this album, Stephen was the first person I had in mind to collaborate with. I sent him a couple of tunes over text, and he replied, ‘Come to Nashville and let’s work on this one.’ So I flew down, and we spent the morning rearranging and writing what became ‘Tongue Tied.’ The session was a total blur...one of those magical days where everything just clicks. I showed up at the studio and Stephen said, ‘I’m hearing some stuff…let’s cook.’ We took the original demo, changed the key, revamped the arrangement, switched up the instrumentation, wrote lyrics, recorded vocals, and two hours later, the song was done.

Day echoes that sentiment with his own story of surprise synergy:

I was a big ol’ fan of Cory’s and I never thought the first time I’d meet him in person would be in Poland! It was a jazz festival, so I guess that makes it a little less mysterious. Little did I know we’d become buds over the years and now here we are. Cory sent a floppy disk in the mail of some instrumentals he’d been working on and l uploaded them to my computer and went straight to writing! He was stoked on what I sent over, so spent some time in the studio getting it just right. I think it’s so sick. I’m honored that Cory wanted to make some magic together!
