Gollylagging Let "Red Fish" Laugh Through The Awkwardness

Sometimes laughter is the cleanest noise a song can make. Gollylagging let laughter ricochet through Red Fish, a sarcastic answer to the encounters which leave Jake Regulbuto awkward and out of step. The track is like a crooked grin stretched across a wall of loud guitars. Humor becomes a way to tell the truth without stiffening it. However, the Boston DIY band never lets the punchline weaken the musical impact. Even the discomfort learns how to grin as Regulbuto explains:
The song came to me pretty quickly, I sat down and wrote it all at once. Then Joey and I made the demo quickly and I brought it to Jules so he could make the drum break and the solo. I wanted the song to sound fun and also to rock. I just feel like people should take themselves less seriously and I was hoping for the sound of the song to reflect that way of thinking.
Bassist Joey Lorant directed and edited the jumpy, jittery video with early-internet mischief in its bloodstream. Echos of The Pharcyde, Beastie Boys, and The Lonely Island echo through its playful visual language. Red Fish arrives before Real Life lands October 16 through Disposable America. Friendship, pain, and growth enter the album without cancelling the band’s instinct for absurdity.
