Some rides are about speed while others are about control. Jessie Ware leans into a slow-burning groove that thrives on tension with Ride. Ware’s voice enters with calm precision, delivering each line with a confidence and deliberately tantalizing. Instead of pushing the song toward a dramatic peak, the arrangement keeps its pulse steady and seductive. In the official video, directed by Thomas James, extends that tension into a dreamlike Western landscape. Set inside a cinematic stable environment, the visual pairs Ware with acclaimed actor James Norton, Exploring themes of power, flirtation, and control, the two move through a stylized world where elegance meets untamed energy. Talking about the video, Jessie said:
James is a friend, and we were recently at our friend Jack Peñate’s performance (who I made ‘Ride’ with) and I asked him, ‘James, do you ride a horse, and would you be up for being a sexy cowboy in the video?’ I sent him the song, he loved it, and I’m so grateful that he made this happen. To be honest, I didn’t think I would be as involved in the video but James, being the total gentleman and professional he is, made it so easy. It was a freezing cold February day and by 10am I was licking his ear. Everything was shot on film, so I think it looks so beautiful - props to Thomas our wonderful director, and to Caravan the horse.
James Norton added:
When Jessie came to me with the idea of being in her music video, I couldn’t find a reason to say no. ‘Ride' is such a great tune and as a long-time fan of Jessie’s work, and more recently a friend, it felt like a fun thing to do. Jessie, Thomas, and the whole crew made sure it was a properly fun ride…

The track glides forward on hypnotic percussion, sleek bass movement, and cinematic guitar accents that quietly echo Ennio Morricone’s legendary Western score from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. By the chorus, the atmosphere feels both luxurious and quietly dangerous. "Ride" arrives as a key preview of Ware’s upcoming album Superbloom, set for release April 10 via Interscope Records. The track first surfaced during Ware’s Glastonbury performance in 2024 and quickly became a fan-favorite waiting for its official debut. Ware stands firmly at the center of her artistic universe signaling a new era. Watch the official video for "Ride" below and connect with Jessie Ware on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
