Brooklyn-based psych-pop trio Psychic Lines shares their vibrant new track The Darkest Mountain. This single sets the stage for their lush, dynamic fifth studio album, SUNSET ON SUNSET, which is set to release on August 23. With melodic guitars and introspective lyrics, the band explores the universal struggles we face in pursuing happiness. The upcoming album is a testament to Psychic Lines' evolving sound, with influences ranging from Captain Beefheart to The National. Recorded live in two sessions and mastered by Carl Saff, the album delves into themes of delusion, escapism, and the stories we tell ourselves to navigate a chaotic world. Bandleader Phil Jacob delves into the inspiration behind the track, explaining:
The darkest mountain is the main obstacle that always seems to be standing in the way of our happiness, no matter who we are. It’s always different for everyone, and it can shift from day to day or even moment to moment. It’s that self-talk that starts out with, 'If only I could overcome this one thing, life would be manageable.
Jacob's reflections resonate with listeners, offering a glimpse into the band's thoughtful and relatable songwriting. The album will be celebrated with an official release show at NYC's Berlin on September 8, with tickets available here. The release show at NYC's Berlin promises to be a night of celebration and connection, with support from Richard Papiercuts and Garrett Devoe.
