In the breath of tradition, the future listens. Internationally celebrated composer and pianist Akira Kosemura opens a transcendent new chapter with his forthcoming album MIRAI, Marking his first-ever vocal-focused project, "MIRAI" pulls from decades of genre exploration to present a message for future generations. Set to arrive June 27, SECAI is the field-recording-rich opening track for the album. “SECAI” features haunting recordings of the Naga people of northwestern Myanmar, layered over a gentle tapestry of experimental sounds and organic instrumentation. This sets the tone for an album which fuses post-rock, neoclassical, ambient electronica, and traditional Asian soundscapes. Kosemura says:
I wanted to bring out the musical influences I’ve carried since youth, and create an imaginary festival in the last track that completes the album as a loop, returning back to the first song.

This cyclical design and intention nod to a deeper utopian vision—music that transcends language and era. Guided by fatherhood and a sense of cultural preservation, Kosemura brings together a global roster of collaborators—Devendra Banhart, Baths, Mr. Hudson, Benjamin Gustafsson, Tom Adams, and more—to lend their voices to this genre-bending project. The recently released Autumn Moon, featuring Miyuki Hatakeyama, pulls lyrical inspiration from Ogura Hyakunin Isshu, a revered anthology of Japanese waka poetry.
