Do you have a new year's resolution? If so, what is it?
Every year instead of making a resolution I try to pick a word that resonates with me. Usually the word reflects an area in my life I am trying to improve on or expand on. This year, my word is "momentum" as I hope to gain this in all areas, but especially my music career. Since I have chosen this word for the year, I am now seeing it everywhere and I'll take that as a good sign.
If you could choose one song to represent 2023 what would it be and why?
Oh goodness, there are so many! I'd have to say any song though that relates to tearing something down to rebuild again. I believe many others like myself are going through this process right now where we are tearing down walls and really digging into who we are and our purpose going forward. I truly believe we are going through an awakening right now collectively and feel great being a part of it.
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have 5 albums with you, what would they be?
Dream Your Life Away by Vance Joy; Red by Taylor Swift; Lonesome by Evan Bartels; Starfire by Caitlyn Smith; Wild World (Deluxe) by Kip Moore; Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves. I would also sneak another one onto the island and it would be the next album Paul Ray puts out. And yes, I know that's more than 5! :)
Describe your dream tour. Who would you want to perform with or open for and why?
So many tough questions!! Honestly, any of those artists I mentioned above would be a dream come true. I just love their energy and the heart they put into their music and songwriting. I'd also love to perform with Lindsey Stirling someday or P!NK, as I love their choreography.
What’s the first song you play which reminds you of heartbreak?
Oh, just reading this question makes me instantly think of a song and my heart aches. Nights I Can't Love You by Evan Bartels (a fellow Nebraskan). I went through a really difficult breakup a few years ago and Evan's album got me through. I also want to add a female artist in here and say Alaska by Caitlyn Smith; that one has been on repeat for me recently. I always love the sad songs.
What’s the first song you play which reminds you of love?
I'm Gonna Love You by Logan Mize. I've probably seen him live over half a dozen times and have his handwritten lyrics for this song hanging on my wall.
Are you the type to get to work early or stay late?
As my friend would say...I'm a late-y. In fact, I'm turning this interview into Marilyn last minute again and I'm sure she just loves that. It's a Gemini thing, we always think we can do more than we really can.
What does success mean to you?
Success means being true to yourself and your values, whatever those may be. For me, no matter what I do in life whether it is music, nursing, or even something else, I want people to know they are heard, they are seen, they are doing the best they can, and they are loved. And also, I want them to know that there is something so much bigger than us that is also within each of us. If I can communicate that to everyone I meet in some way, then I will be successful.
What is your greatest accomplishment thus far?
I think my biggest accomplishment thus far is more of a broad one, but also the backbone of all my accomplishments. It's believing in myself and trusting myself. We all have so many accomplishments in life, whether they are big or small, but I don't think we achieve those unless we believe and trust from the beginning. Those two things are actually very difficult to do, and in the last couple years I feel like I've really come into my own and am getting there.
Where do you want to perform next and where can people connect with you at?
I would love to play at The Listening Room Cafe in Nashville or open for a larger act at a concert in downtown Omaha or Lincoln, Nebraska, the state where I grew up and have seen so many shows while dreaming that one day it will be my turn. Fans can follow along over on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok under the handle @christinebauermusic. They can stream my new single "Call Me" and other past releases on all music streaming platforms. I hope to see you at one of these shows soon!
