A nail can hold something together, or pin the truth in place. Nail kicks open the next chapter for NYC-via-Venezuela trio Joudy. The single crashes forward with dissonant grunge guitars, pounding drums, and a thick bass line that refuses to loosen its grip. From the opening moments, the rhythm pushes with urgency, giving frontman Diego Ramirez space to deliver vocals that sound exhausted and defiant. The band keeps the arrangement tight and relentless, allowing the distortion to tighten like a one notch at a time. Ramirez explains that "Nail" captures a moment of emotional pivot, saying:
‘Nail’ captures the breaking point where self-blame turns into self-protection. Punchy drums, fuzzy bass, razor-sharp guitars, and urgent vocals turn vulnerability into defiance. It’s a raw, cathartic anthem for listeners navigating burnout and personal reclamation.

The single arrives alongside the announcement of Joudy’s upcoming album Permanent Maintenance, due July 24 via Trash Casual. The record reflects a turning point for the band, channeling years of personal upheaval and political displacement into their most direct music yet. Originally formed in San Cristóbal, Venezuela before relocating to New York, the trio now bring that history into a sharper, heavier sound. Joudy will also take the stage at SXSW this March before returning to New York for a show at The Meadows alongside fellow Venezuelan band Zeta. With its unrelenting energy and stripped-down intensity, "Nail" signals the band’s most confrontational era yet. Stream the single now and let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
