New York City alt-rock trio People I’ve Met return with For Hire, a vibrant yet inward-looking single which captures the emotional whiplash of reclaiming agency after heartbreak. Floating atop buoyant melodies and layered vocals, the track combines bright sonic energy with lyrics which refuse emotional convenience. Produced by the band and alongside Noah Conrad, "For Hire" expands their palette while sharpening their voice. The song processes contradiction, owning mistakes while still choosing distance, allowing conflicting emotions to coexist without resolution. Frontman Moses Martin explains:
After 'Promise,' we wanted to have some fun to show our range and provide a different perspective on getting over someone. The lyric, ‘you’re not getting us for hire,’ conveys the sentiment of ‘you can’t just have me when you want me.

Confident, reflective, and unafraid to set boundaries, "For Hire" approaches healing from a different angle. With roots stretching back to middle-school jazz band sessions between drummer Orlando Wiltshire and bassist Andrew Suster, People I’ve Met carry a long-earned chemistry that translates into effortless cohesion. Their evolution from garage experiments to a breakout presence in New York’s alt-rock circuit feels organic, as they step into 2026. The trio will mark the next phase with their first live show of the year on February 12 at Brooklyn’s Main Drag Music, so keep an eye out.
