Porch Light Let "Paranoia" Flicker Across The Walls

A porch light should guide you home; this one makes the shadows harder to trust. Porch Light turn Paranoia into a horror scene in the new Jack Alex Cohen-directed video. Extending the riff-heavy track from their debut album Hush, silhouettes, broken glass and insistent alarms give the song’s escalating anxiety a new visual setting. The Minneapolis quintet’s rock vocabulary rests on guitar riffs and large chorus melodies, with Jackie Uhas’s rangy delivery leading the deception. Connecting the video’s unease with the band’s performance-first identity, Bassist Henry Hughes saw the vision manifest in the studio. He explains:
We had just come off a tour, so [Wright] wanted to capture us being super well-versed on our instruments. We don’t put anything on the record that we don’t do live, so we try to keep it live in the studio. I feel like we leaned into being a band that has been touring now, and I think it shows on the album.

Recorded at Pachyderm Studios with Caleb Wright, Hush moves between riff-driven rock and stripped-back ballads without abandoning the five-piece format. The contrast gives its louder passages a purpose, meanwhile the intensity means more when the same group can also pull back. The album places "Paranoia" alongside the dreamier Crossfire and the farewell anger of Under, offering different ways for Uhas to confront the aftereffects of a relationship.
