Talking a big game with no follow through. Australia’s Radio Free Alice returns with their first single of the year, Empty Words, a biting post-punk anthem that pulls no punches. The track is a dissonant and paranoid critique of hollow activism and the social stagnation plaguing a generation. With frontman Noah Learmonth’s throaty yet operatic vocals weaving through jagged guitar riffs, the band captures the tension between disillusionment and rebellion. Directed by Finn Robilliard, the official video amplifies the track’s unease, presenting a dark, moody visual that mirrors the song’s relentless urgency. Learmonth shares:

“‘Empty Words’ came out of a jam like most of our songs do. It was in some downtime between shows while we were in the UK last year. Lyrically it’s about the feeling of social stagnation that I think a lot of young people in our generation feel.

The Melbourne-based quartet isn’t slowing down. Following a string of major festival performances across Australia and Europe, including supporting The Killers, Radio Free Alice is gearing up for their U.S. debut at SXSW in Austin, TX from March 12-15, with official showcase details to be announced. With “Empty Words” leading the charge, the band’s path to international recognition is all but guaranteed. Stream “Empty Words” now and watch the official music video below.
