The Macks are the type to rip the floorboards up right before their world swallows you whole. Portland’s underground rock agitators return with Bonanza, their forthcoming album out September 25. The project promises to capture both the delirium and devotion that define The Macks. To mark the announcement, the group has unleashed two new singles, Dually Of Man and The Modern Grape, alongside a joint video that plunges listeners into their bizarre, chaotic universe. Balancing the rage of "Dually Of Man" comes the raw yearning of "The Modern Grape," a restless meditation on ambition, futility, and the thin line between passion and exhaustion. The band explains.
We grew up in the Portland suburbs in a deeply safe, family-oriented town that loved to ostracize and criticize. While the white picket fence is easy to make fun of, the fuck-you-I-got-mine attitude that runs so much of America is hurdling us towards fascism and environmental collapse — and there’s no better symbol for that than a shiny new Dually that’s never hauled anything.
They added:
Being in The Macks is like being naked on stage at a Bingo. It’s near shameful to give so much of ourselves to the crowd for some to care so little. ‘The Modern Grape’ touches on that feeling of us pressing along, inch-by-inch, in the pursuit of making something that needs to be heard.

Visually, the two singles collide in a cinematic short directed by Alec Kaplan and produced by Vultures & Dogs. "Dually Of Man" hits first: a hard-driving, psychedelic spiral where vocalist Sam Fulwiler rattles off suburban monotony-like items on a grocery list. The track channels the numbing cycles of middle-class quietude, antsy kids told to turn down the volume, neighborhoods obsessed with keeping peace while suffocating individuality. As the band snarls “Old drunks and fake punks take back the West Coast,” the anthem becomes both critique and battle cry. Meanwhile, cycling through impatience and apathy, the track "The Mondern Grape" wonders if chasing fame makes The Macks fruit ripe for the picking or shriveled remnants of what they once dreamed to be. With "Bonanza" looming on the horizon, The Macks once again prove they aren’t just playing rock, they’re detonating it.
